Born in Milaca, MN, Allen began his career in broadcast television entertainment news in 2004. He worked as a field producer for Bader TV News, covering major assignments (Super Bowl week, NBA All-Star weekend, and various celebrity events), and serving high-profile clients (GM, Nike, Brand Jordan, and Sony Playstation).
Since his transition from television to film, Allen has produced and directed several short films, while working key positions on many others. He has been a part of five feature films in the Colorado independent film community, and has worked commercially for ESPN, ABC, HGTV, Kroger Foods, and the DIY network.
In 2007, he formed Rum River Productions, LLC to support various projects and filmmakers around Colorado. 2008 began with a run of selections for Aces & Eights, earning the Zombie-Western five award nominations (Best Horror Short, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Design, Best Original Music, and Audience Choice) at ten film festivals across the United States. The year also saw the production of One Call Delivery, which has enjoyed it’s own festival success.
In 2009 RRP began it’s inaugural feature film venture, with Allen and Scott Park (DP- Aces & Eights, One Call Delivery) penning the script for the Bigfoot creature-feature, HOAX. The finished screenplay has since gone on to garner finalist status at over ten screenplay competitions (Fade In Awards, Slamdance, NYC Horror), and is currently in development.
Matt is presently seeking representation in Los Angeles.
